June: National Month of Celebration

macysalem0

June is our National Month of Celebration, and there is so much to celebrate! This offers us a great opportunity to reflect on our fraternal values while recognizing the diverse cultural milestones this month encompasses.

Pride Month

Pride Month, celebrated each June, is a time to honor the LGBTQ+ community, recognize their contributions, and reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity and equality. For Kappa Kappa Psi, this is a reminder of our dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all brothers. Our fraternity thrives on diversity, and the unique perspectives and experiences each member brings is irreplaceable. During Pride Month, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ brothers of our fraternity, and acknowledge their vital role in our history and ongoing legacy.

One way we can actively participate in Pride Month is by supporting events like the Pride Band Conference, held this year from July 17-21 in Columbus, Ohio. This conference brings together LGBTQ+ musicians from across the nation to perform, learn, and celebrate their shared passion for music. It offers a variety of performances, workshops, and social events, fostering a sense of community and belonging. For more information, visit the Pride Band Conference website.

Black Music Appreciation Month

June is also Black Music Appreciation Month, which reminds us to honor the impact of Black musicians on the world of music. From jazz and blues to hip-hop and classical, Black artists have influenced numerous musical genres and inspired many generations over the years. This month, let's celebrate the Black musicians who have inspired us both in our fraternity and in our daily lives.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States in 1865. This day is a reminder of the struggles and triumphs of Black Americans and the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality. For Kappa Kappa Psi, Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our past and strive to foster a welcoming environment where every brother feels valued, empowered, and supported.

As we embrace the celebrations of June, let this serve as a reminder to continuously celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to the bright future that awaits us.
