Celebrating the Month of Musicianship: Your Stories!

This Month of Musicianship, we heard from you! Dr. Donald Lee, Jr., Music Outreach Director, and the Alumni Association Communications Committee reached out to our alumni with one question: "Why do you continue to play music?"

Your responses were inspiring, heartfelt, and showcased the deep connection we share through music. For many of us, our love of music didn't stop after college - it continues to bring us joy and connect us with others.

Here are the responses we received:

  • "I continue to play music because it continues to be an avenue of expression I feel most at home embracing. Music has run deeply in my family legacy, so to stay in it simply feels right."

    - Alfred Segovia, Alumni Member of Alpha Psi

  • "In addition to music being part of my life since I was 5 years old, it is a fantastic way to interact with other individuals who share similar passions. As someone who has lived in multiple states, I always looked for a community band or jazz band in which to play. This allowed me to immediately meet a group of individuals shortly after I relocated. Often these folks were members of KKPsi and TBSigma, which made the interactions even more special."

    - Kirk Randazzo, Life Member of Zeta Chi

  • "Because it is the one creative outlet I've found that allows me to freely express myself and has also been a sort of self help mental therapy that relieves the stresses of the daily rat race."

    - Eduardo Higareda, Life Member of Lambda Psi

  • "I find a lot of fulfillment play and also performing service by helping set up the chair we need for the largest orchestra in the nation. I enjoy being able to be a better musician by playing and having good audiences to enjoy the concerts we are able to put together."

    - Brian Paster, Life Member of Eta Sigma

  • "To have fun, to connect with fellow musicians in the area, and to remember what makes life worth living when you get bogged down in responsibilities."

    - Adam Martini, Life Member of Eta

  • "To stay connected to music, my fraternity and to keep my chops!"

    - Savannah Reed, Life Member of Nu Rho

Thank you for sharing your stories and reminding us of the many ways music enriches our lives. Whether it’s an outlet for creativity, a way to connect with others, or simply something that brings you joy, your stories help keep the spirit of musicianship alive in Kappa Kappa Psi.

Thank you for celebrating Month of Musicianship with us. Together, we continue to share and celebrate the power of music in our lives!
