OUR VISION
The Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association
will engage, develop, and support our individual members to cultivate the mindful growth of our Alumni, Actives, and Fraternity as a whole. In doing so, we will foster a lasting and inclusive community that provides sustainable support to each other through our cumulative wisdom and shared values.
OUR MISSION
In order to fulfill our shared vision,
the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association, as administered by the Alumni Association Board of Directors, is dedicated to expanding the benefits and opportunities afforded to members of our association.
Specifically, we aim to:
(i) support our members by providing enhanced engagement for our alumni on a smaller/local level,
(ii) administer a flagship professional development program for our membership,
(iii) provide multiple avenues for continued participation with Kappa Kappa Psi, and
(iv) ensure a thriving and stable Alumni Association, rooted in our traditions, for years to come.
History of the National Alumni Associations
National Alumni Association (Joint)
The concept of a National Alumni Association (NAA) was introduced at the 1993 National Convention at Purdue University. This idea aimed to create a unified alumni organization to serve the interests of both Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma alumni. By 1995, the first NAA Steering Committee was formed to lay the groundwork for the organization. Two years later, in 1997, the National Alumni Association was officially launched, marking a significant step in strengthening alumni engagement.
In 2003, the NAA voted to restructure its governance by splitting the board in half and eliminating the requirement for equal representation between Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma members. This decision allowed for greater flexibility in governance while continuing to uphold the shared mission of serving alumni from both organizations.
Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association
In 2006, the Kappa Kappa Psi Board of Trustees voted to disaffiliate from the joint National Alumni Association, signaling a new chapter for alumni relations. The following year, in 2007, the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association and the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association were officially launched as independent entities. This transition allowed each organization to tailor their alumni engagement efforts to their unique membership while maintaining their shared values and dedication to advancing college bands.
