Dale E Rauschenberg (Iota Delta) 1938-2024


Dale Rauschenberg, from Lutherville, MD, passed away on February 2, 2024 at the age of 86.

Dale was born in Youngstown, OH to Marvin Rauschenberg and Colyn Wilhide.

Dale is survived by his wife, Theresa (Neustupa), his brother Richard and his wife Mary Ann, his brother Gary and his wife Barbara, his son David and his wife Heidi, his son Daniel and his wife Barbara, his daughter Catherine and her husband Sam, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


In 1966, Dale became Towson University’s first percussion instructor and founded TU’s Percussion Department. He would later go on to become Professor Emeritus at TU in 1999.


Dale developed a love for drums in elementary school after watching marching bands perform at high school football games that his dad took him to.


After coming to Baltimore in 1966, he did considerable free-lance playing at major music venues including the Baltimore Symphony, Baltimore Civic Center and Lyric Theatre.


He performed for numerous celebrities, including Jack Benny, Perry Como, Katherine Hepburn, Bob Hope, Henry Mancini, Wayne Newton and Linda Ronstadt.


Among his hobbies were model railroading and enjoying music with his family, whether teaching them how to play or leading sing-a-longs.
